Day 79 - 5th November, 2024

I’m having to start adding layers to my clothing when I do “the walk” in the mornings. I’ve been fortunate of late that there has been so little rain but the mornings are getting colder and there is a dampness in the air which adds to the chill. The leaves from the trees that are housed in the Manor House grounds are covering the pavements where I walk and because they are quite crisp I enjoy the sound of them as I walk over them. However when the rains do come they will become quite slippery and I’m going to have to take care.

The problem with my feet, legs and hands is not going away and I have an appointment with my doctor to discuss our next move with regard to this. Although the problem has improved over the last 16 months that improvement seems to have come to a halt between numb and uncomfortable. Maybe there is no cure and it’s just a result of old age and the body wearing out. If that is the case, so be it, I’ll just have to manage. Either way the walk will go on.

My youngest granddaughter Emma travelled down from North Yorkshire to stay with us for the weekend and support and join me on the walks. It was a joy to see her and we had a great time catching up face-to-face. We went to the United Services club and enjoyed the entertainment and a dance or two. I’m told I dance like a penguin. Is that good? My grandson Tom and his wife will be visiting in 2 weeks’ time and that’s another few days I am really looking   forward to. My grand children are the best in the world there is no doubt about that.
