Welcome To My Blog

My name is Terry Coote and I am a DOUBLE CANCER survivor. I was 75 years of age when I was first diagnosed and I am now 80, which is testimony to the skill, dedication and hard work of all the personnel of the Surgical and Oncology units at Queen's Hospital in Romford, Essex.

I will never, ever, be able to repay the debt I owe those people but that is no reason to sit back and do nothing. It has taken me 5 years to be able to keep my promise to myself that I would do something worthwhile to help them and the patients they are now treating. The time has come and it’s NOW.

I live in a small house in a square in Barking, Essex and in the middle of the square is the 16th Century, Eastbury Manor House. The Manor House is flanked on all sides by its grounds and the perimeter measures approx. 0.2 miles (0.32 kilometres).

Every day I will walk 3 circuits around the perimeter which will be approx. 0.6 miles (0.96 kilometres) hoping that the public will support me in my endeavour to raise money to purchase a piece of specialist equipment (a BK Medical Ultrasound device) for Queen's HospitaI Surgical Unit. I will continue this walk until at least Christmas Eve and possibly longer. The 24th December 2024 is significant to me because it will be the fifth anniversary of my last chemotherapy treatment and the day that a scan showed that my treatment was a complete success. Please support me and give a donation, if at all possible, no matter how small. If you could also tell your family, friends, neighbours, social media contacts and even the bosses of the company you work for about my quest that would also be a great help.

Over the coming days and weeks I will keep you up to date on the progress of my walk and relate to you my cancer experience and treatment and the effect that it had on me, and my wife in particular, both then and now.
